Competition: Thames & Hudson Award for Book Design 2024

To enter the competition, we chose the brief The Gods and Goddesses of Greece and Rome to design its book cover (dust jacket and book belly), interior design (endpaper and symbols) and page layout.

The main colors for the design are Aegean Blue (C: 92 M: 74), Roman Peach (M: 35 Y: 40 K: 9), and Tyrian Purple (C: 56 M: 100 Y: 26 K: 12), which represent the mythological tales of ancient Greece, the materials of ancient Roman architecture, and the symbolism of divine authority, power, and elite status.

The concept behind the design of the dust jacket and book belly is to show that the mythology of gods and goddesses fits into our modern society. The book belly presents a traditional version of the gods and goddesses, which is solemn and serious. However, beneath the book belly, it shows how they fit into the modern world in a fun way.
